There are more than 5,000 kilometres of cycle routes to explore in southern Italy, following the Bike Link Sud routes.
An epic journey for keen travellers who want to discover the authentic spirit of the South, amidst nature reserves, historic town centres, traditions and unique landscapes, whatever the season.
Welcome to the land of ‘wonderful encounters’.
There is a South that cannot be seen from a car window. A South made up of ‘quiet’ places that for too long believed themselves to be isolated, but which have always shared the very same heartbeat, with common roots that run deep into the history and very identity of the Mediterranean.
Today, that beating heart becomes a single, great cycle route connecting the geography and history of southern Italy. A single green infrastructure that winds through parks, villages, stories, traditions and communities, uniting projects and people who believe in a different South and are working to preserve its identity and landscape.
A ‘green’ tapestry that takes shape along the Volturno Cycle Route, before following the endless horizon of the Apulian Aqueduct Cycle Route all the way to the tip of Apulia via the Ciclonica.
A journey that encounters the vertical beauty of Vesuvius and the Gran Tour of the Amalfi Coast, amidst the timeless charm of Naples and the legendary curves of the Amalfi Coast.
Further south, the route becomes a deep, intimate breath as it passes through the ancient villages of Cilento on the Via Silente, before climbing up through the sweeping heights of the Anello dei Parchi Lucani and the Ciclovia Meridiana, the very breath of ancient Lucania.
Upon reaching the southernmost tip of peninsular Italy, the route reveals the woods and lakes of the Ciclovia dei Parchi della Calabria, amongst Pollino, Sila and Aspromonte. Until it becomes an adventurous route across the Strait with the Sicily Divide, which pierces the silence of Sicily’s magical hinterland.
Bike Link Sud, therefore, is not merely a map. It is a promise. It is a choice to travel mindfully. To look into the eyes of those who safeguard beauty. To restore the land to its natural rhythm. It is not just a road. It is an embrace and a southern encounter. And it begins here, to the rhythm of your breath.
We are Bike Link Sud and we are uniting southern Italy, one pedal stroke at a time, with tenacity.

Identity and objectives
Bike Link Sud is a non-profit community project.
It was founded in the spring of 2025 following a meeting of people actively involved in promoting cycle tourism and sustainable mobility, who live and work in the southern regions of Italy and are united by shared values and objectives.
Bike Link Sud is a sustainable mobility and cycle tourism project that brings together, within a single extensive network, the cycle routes that already exist or are nearing completion in Southern Italy, spanning Campania, Basilicata, Molise, Puglia, Calabria and Sicily: ‘The Kingdom of Two Wheels’.
The project has created an extensive greenway network stretching over 5,000 kilometres, transforming Southern Italy into a single, unified destination for cycle tourism. The aim is to overcome territorial fragmentation by integrating the many existing, well-established routes linking the coasts, inland areas and nature parks. A map that is constantly evolving.
It is a community-led project that has emerged from the grassroots, bringing together local associations, industry professionals, tour operators and opinion leaders – a cohesive group driven by the belief that Bike Link Sud represents an extraordinary opportunity to promote – in Italy, across Europe and around the world – a different South: one that is more secluded and ‘quiet’, off the beaten track of mass tourism, yet rich in unspoilt landscapes, culture, history and traditions. A different South that presents itself as a magnificent destination for enthusiasts of slow, adventurous and rejuvenating travel.
At the same time, Bike Link Sud champions the aim of transforming the bicycle from a mere leisure activity into a strategic pillar for the economic, environmental and social development of Southern Italy. It acts as a champion of ongoing cultural advocacy and community lobbying, aimed at bringing about a shift in mindset that promotes cycling as a clean, healthy and sustainable mode of transport, capable of eliminating the environmental impact of tourist flows and everyday travel.
The Bike Link Sud map
The Bike Link Sud map currently features 16 cycle routes in the south, in addition to the Apennine Bike Tour, EuroVelo 5 and EuroVelo 7, for the relevant sections.
* The asterisk indicates cycle routes with dedicated signage. Naturally, this map is constantly evolving.
The map can be downloaded free of charge and also features the Bike Link Sud passport on the reverse, which can be stamped at any of the network’s Info Points; a list and interactive map of these will be published shortly. The minimum recommended print size for optimal readability is A3.
